The Public Service Commission is a constitutional body that is established to conduct examinations and interviews to select the best candidate for civil service.
The provision related to the Public Service Commission is described in Part 23 of the Constitution of Nepal. There is one chairperson and four other members in the Public Service Commission. The term of office of the Chairperson and members of the Public Service Commission is six years from the date of appointment.

The powers, functions, and duties of Public Service Commission are as follows:-
1. To conduct examinations for the selection of qualified candidates for appointment in civil service
2. To conduct written examinations for the appointment to the offices of Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal and other federal services
3. To consult on the laws relating to the conditions of service of the employees
4. To consult on the general principle to be followed in the course of making appointments and promotion of employees
5. To take departmental action against any employee of civil service.
